So you will no doubt be already aware that the Mockingbird is open and thriving again, but did you know that they have recently refreshed their menu? Click on the image for a larger version.
The flavour of the Mockingbird is distinctly southern American, featuring bistro-style dishes and a selection of burgers – many suitable for vegetarians and vegans too. With a focus on fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced produce, the service is fast and the food is delicious to boot!
Along with the great and reasonably-priced menu (seriously – starters are all £5 and the most expensive main is the steak at £11), the Mockingbird has a fantastic selection of craft beers and cocktails. Oh, and as well as the bar, and the bistro, there is also a 101-seat cinema and theatre space!
I dined with fellow carnivores, enjoying the NY Strip Steak, Mockingburger, and the signature Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The steak was juicy, cooked to perfection and more than enough to feed my appetite!
The burger. What can I say about the Mockingburger? Just look at it. Look at that deliciousness of a burger, with the obligatory avocado and topped-off with a ready-to-burst fried egg. Heaven. And the seasoned fries it comes with are seriously addictive. The buttermilk chicken is fabulously crunchy, with an equally amazing slaw, all served on a tray so you can take your food with you into the theatre if you’re enjoying a show.
Keep an eye out on Facebook and Twitter for regular events taking place at the Mockingbird (Mystery Movie Tuesdays, and Mock The Flock comedy on Wednesdays), and we’ll of course keep you in the loop with any special goings-on and offers.
See you at the bar!
