    Nose Abatement

    Nose Abatement

Birmingham Post – Nose abatement notice for Custard Factory events firms – B9 Events and Soul Factory, who organise all the big all-nighters and that at the Custard Factory, have been handed a Noise Abatement notice so they can join The Rainbow and The Spotted Dog’s gang.

Which is bad for the future of noisy, night-time events under the railway arches at the back of the Custard Factory, but great for the proof-reading fail that is ‘Nose Abatement’. As local Sub-Editor Fiona Cullinan said, it’s ‘Not quite the new Wanky Balls, but still a rather lovely headline typo.’

Facebook | Digbeth O’Lympics – Oh yes – it’s soon September and all good Digbeth citizens know what that means! The Third Digbeth O’Lympics (Level 3 madness in support of Acorns Children’s Hospice’) will take place on Sunday 19th September from 12.00pm.

Due to the clash with the Papal visit to Birmingham, this year will have a religious theme! Look out for:

    • The Sac(rament) Race
    • Pope on A Rope (tug of war)
    • The (c)oracle Race
    • Serpent Racing (snails)
    • and of course the sensational Go Kart race in which at least one Popemobile will be coming down the hill!

In addition to the above, The Rainbow is also likely to offer additional mayhem!

Synth Eastwood at Flatpack Festival « More Canals than Venice – Pixie Sixer spots this nice film of Dublin collective Synth Eastwood’s visit to The Rainbow for what was for me a serious hightlight of the Flatpack Film Festival.

The night at the Rainbow Warehouse featured acts such as Clark, Health & Efficiency and Gangpol and Mit. During the run up to the event the Synth Eastwood boys were running all over the city to get footage for the night. Above are some of the results. There may be some people you recognise!

One of the best bits of the evening for me is the visuals of famous film clips which cut away to green figures acting out the same scenes. Watch the video from 1.15 mins onwards to see what I’m talking about – it’s a brilliantly striking effect and that must have taken them bloody ages to master, a labour of love I really fell for.
