- The Stirrer: DIGBETH NOISE ROW GOES OVER THE RAINBOW – If the Big City Plans for a vibrant, lively centre are to come good this issue needs sorting out: The threat to Digbeth’s vibrant nightlife has spread from The Spotted Dog to The Rainbow pub, which has been warned that environmental health officers are ready to pounce with their rapid response unit to clamp down on any alleged breaches of noise regulations. Rainbow landlord Kent Davis revealed that Birmingham Council has had four complaints about his premises – one from the Abacus apartments and three from Avoca Court.
- Digbeth car clamper has to pay £7,000 – The Birmingham Mail reports a landmark Birmingham City Council prosecution against Gary Southall of Moseley Street, Digbeth, after Birmingham Trading Standards received 190 complaints about his companies, Nationwide Parking Control and National Parking Control. ‘Southall fell foul of the law by towing away vehicles parked by unsuspecting motorists in locations across Digbeth and Bordesley Green, and failing to provide his name as business owner for drivers to appeal.’ Bad, bad boy.
- Black Velevet Mag’s Simple Plan – A dedicated vegan does Digbeth and, on his search for soya milk hot chocolates, stumbles across a little anti-fur protest outside of the vintage clothing storeon the High Street.
