Irish filum and local film in Digbeth this week

If you’re feeling like some film fun this week, there’s a couple of opportunities. Tomorrow night (Monday 14th November) is Irish ‘Filum Night’ at The Spotted Dog and the second of landlord John Tighe’s three John Millington Synge play screenings. It’s a good mix of the comic and tragic, with the full-of-foreboding Riders to the Sea and the author’s only comedy, The Tinker’s Wedding. Join us in The Spotted Dog tomorrow at 8pm for free Filum, tea and buns!

Then on Wednesday 16th November there’s a FlixFixer screening of the locally-made film Turbulence at the Custard Factory:

When a failing music venue staffed by fools looks set to close, manager Keith launches a last ditch Battle of the Bands competition. More by accident than by design, musical genius is unleashed by a rapping transvestite, some precocious indie rockers and a bar maid with a golden voice, who together save the world they love.

The screening starts at 7pm and will  be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. Entry is £4.
