Digbeth Civic Hall

I was just sent this link by John Tighe, of a performance at the Digbeth Civic Hall (now known as the HMV Institute) back when it was a ‘proper’ venue.

The dancing (around 3 minutes in) is especially exuberant 🙂

You can read more history about the venue here – although this page still refers to the venue as the Sanctuary, all the rest of the history (I hope) is correct!

One Response to Digbeth Civic Hall

  1. Ah, Digbeth Civic Hall. The first concert I can remember going to was there. Well, strictly speaking it was the rally after a CND march through the city centre, but in amongst the speakers they had a few bands on, one of whom was Echo Base.

I remember Echo Base because their graffiti was ubiquitous in the city at the time. I suspect they weren’t quite as good as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, though.

Thanks for posting the video up.
