Digbeth Car Rentals

Digbeth is on the brink of various changes, and I personally am concerned that this means the commercialisation of our area with (gasp) chains.

One thing that keeps Digbeth different from other parts of the city is our high concentration of independent businesses. The often characterful owners add that variety and vibrancy to our part of the city that just doesn’t exist elsewhere.

One visible change that is likely to be coming soon is that of Sutton Flowers on the High Street. A planning application has been submitted to turn the florist into a branch of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Although it’s a non-offensive car rental business, it could be a sign of things to come. Speaking of signs, below is a representation of what the new car rental branch will look like; I can’t take any credit for this image, as it has been lifted straight out of the planning application (via Google maps).

Interesting times ahead…
