As Christmas draws ever closer, the Birmingham Bach Choir are readying for their annual free Nine Lessons and Carols concert. One of the UK’s leading large chamber choirs, Birmingham Bach Choir has been contributing to the musical life of the West Midlands since 1919.

This very traditional service combines readings with seasonal songs, and this year takes place at St Alban’s Church in neighbouring Highgate. Built in the late-1880s for the growing population of inner city Highgate, the the Grade II* listed Gothic Revival church was designed by John Loughborough Pearson, who was also responsible for restoration work to Westminster Abbey.

Led by conductor Paul Spicer and accompanied by organist Paul Carr, expect to hear trusted favourite carols as well as some possibly less familiar choral works during this concert. For more information, visit the Birmingham Bach Choir website here.
