Digbeth residents get a warm welcome at Bay Leaf Restaurant

An evening of good food and company seemed the perfect antidote to recent events, so when Aftab at the recently opened Bay Leaf Restaurant announced he was staying open last night, a group of us headed over there. We got a brilliantly warm welcome and the nicest curry I’ve eaten in a very long time. If you like your well-made, reasonably-priced food, Bay Leaf is well worth a visit.

Whilst we were there, Aftab told us of his plans for the place and how he wants it to be a big part of community life. I did a short video interview with him (above) – a couple of more immediate points were:

  • Bay Leaf will be providing the catering for Digbeth Fun Day this Sunday, so you can tuck into some delicious curry whilst watching the pigeon race and listening to live music.
  • Aftab is eager to display the work of local artists at Bay Leaf. Contact him if you think you can help with this.

Don’t forget, there’s live jazz at Bay Leaf tomorrow evening, if you like a bit of music with your curry. Enjoy a 3 course meal and Sam Watts on the piano for just £20 – call Bay Leaf on 0121 224 7700 to book a table.

I can also vouch that the food is absolutely delicious! If you don’t like spice, the Korma is excellent (and I usually hate korma!), and if you like a bit of spice, then the rest of the menu is fab. I’m planning on slowly working my way through all of it!
