48 Sheet hits Digbeth today – a project running until 14th September that sees four advertising billboards in the area transformed into pieces of art by local artists Harry BlackettRobin KirkhamLucy McLauchlan, Ian Richards and Elizabeth Rowe. They will be using a variety of methods to transform their billboards into pieces that ‘make people smile or question what they see every day’, from graphic artist Ian Richards’ three-dimensional lettering to recycled objects found and collected from the streets by Lucy McLauchlan.

The project is the work of EC Arts, who were also responsible for the Digbeth Public Art Project at the Birmingham Coach Station and Beautify The City at Birmingham Central Library. A map of the billboards is below with a few more details – take a walk around them whilst it’s nice and sunny!
