Getgood Link: Plug pulled on 150m Connaught Square scheme in Digbeth

Plug pulled on 150m Connaught Square scheme in Digbeth – Seems that patch of brown, barren land opposite the coach station is set to remain just that for a while:

Connaught Square was supposed to turn a patch of rubble-strewn wasteland opposite Digbeth Coach Station into a mixed-use site with 658 new apartments, a four-star hotel with sky bar and a new Irish Centre, shops, restaurants and a spa.But now Connaught Square Ltd, the subsidiary of the Irish-owned Naus Group set up to deliver the ambitious plans, has gone into administration and the scheme’s future is in jeopardy.

See Connaught Square (Rivercross) on the Stirrer

Turf it over and lets have a “Digbeth Park” could be useful for outdoor events.

The trick is to start small. Open a nice cafe with a flat above it. Any scheme that starts with Sky Bar and Spa is going to fall through.
