Getgood Link: Birmingham Post – Custard Factory restaurant’s row with landlords over music events

Birmingham Post – Custard Factory restaurant’s row with landlords over music events – Matthew’s Restaurant in the Custard Factory is reportedly ‘considering legal action’ for seemingly much the same reason Rogue Play Theatre felt the need to move out:

Matthew’s has accused the Custard Factory of showing a lack of consideration by allowing promoters to stage large-scale night-time events which have resulted in the restaurant losing thousands of pounds in revenue.

Fine dining and club culture is not a good mix, it seems.

We can blame Matthew’s all we want but there is definite conflict in having music nights held in the same space as (some) big businesses. I think the two need to be separated

  3. Max says:

The real issue here is the custard factory [as] a landlord – that’s true if you’re renting a studio or (apparently) if you’re trying to run a restaurant.
