Mystery solved! As a Lee Friction kindly commented, that boarded-up old warehouse on Bradford Street I was wondering about, that suddenly opened its doors, has become a private car park. They can’t all become artists’ studios, I suppose.

Free State of Digbeth
It used to be the Holdens Glass warehouse in the 70s and 80s, a mate used to work there and he told me that everyone used to hate Monday mornings because when they went in after the weekend they often found dead bodies, Clubbers from the Tin Pan club next door, high on what ever used to take a wrong turn out of the emergency exit and fall through the glass roof.

Sadly one young lad did go through the roof of the glass warehouse next to the club in question and that was the end of the venue. Trying to remember what it was called but it did host the Tin Can club for a while and I and a mate put on some club nights there which are remembered fondly by those who went. I have many memories and oddly did jury service with one of the ladies who worked the bar there just a few years ago.

With all due respect for the dead I want to try whatever that poor guy was taking if he fell off the top of Bradford House and landed in a warehouse ACROSS THE OTHER SIDE OF BRADFORD ST AND OVER THE RIVER. Must have been flying!
TBF the now demolished glass-roofed warehouse next to Bradford House did have a similar look/feel to it but much bigger.
Ahh could be some confusion M’ lord. I blame our host. On reflection both the warehouse and club that I referred to are now flattened. I forgot. So what is John above referring to?
Just confusion I spose. The building in question most recently built garden sheds – there is a shed-front hung 15ft up on the wall. I’ve always wanted to attach a replica Rod’n'Emu to it so the Free State of Digbeth can lay claim to hosting the World’s largest manufacture of the World’s largest birdboxes.
Even more apt now considering Rod’s ultimate demise. Get in.
