On Thursday evening I went to the open house at The Lombard Method on Lombard Street, which has its last day tomorrow.
The Lombard Method is an independently run studio and project space led by 8 Birmingham based artists. Functioning primarily as a large communal studio with flexible project spaces, the objectives of the group are to develop individual practice through critical dialogue and group interaction, and to engage with other artists through a programme of residencies, exhibitions, and events.
It was your usual evening of nice drinks and company, with the resident artists’ work to date on display to appreciate.
The top floor was my favourite – a big red bubble seemed to be trying to escape from one room, but got caught up in the old wooden rafters.
The other room held a ladder and an awful lot of smoke. You couldn’t see Jack.
The Lombard Method is open tomorrow, Sunday 17th Jan at 12pm-5pm. I’d seriously recommend going to see a really lovely old industrial building being sympathetically used as a creative space, with lots of interesting work in progress to nosey through. The Lombard Method is off Cheapside at 68a Lombard Street, Birmingham, B12 0QR
