The next Pubwatch meeting of Digbeth and Highgate landlords (all are welcome) is at The White Swan tomorrow evening at 7pm. The minutes to the last meeting are below. Highlights are that people are already gearing up for the St Patrick’s Day Parade March 2010, with a fundraising event at The Lamp Tavern on 9th December. Lowlights are there is a thief on the rampage, so if you catch someone entering or leaving a local pub through a first-floor window instead of the door, call the police.

MO’L gave details of two recent burglaries at pubs where access was gained via open first floor windows. He advised checking security. Discussion followed about subsequent detention of suspect and his release, even though he was in possession of stolen goods and had been seen on CCTV. Crown Prosecution Service decision not to prosecute because of time between
robbery and apprehension being too great, did not receive support of any members present. Opinions expressed that message is being sent out that burgling pubs results in no action.
St Patrick’s Day Parade: First meeting re parade to be held at Irish Club, Wednesday 14th October 7pm. Fund-raiser: Lamp Tavern 9th December. To be confirmed.
Anchor. Christmas night.
A.O.B: AB (via chairman) expressed concern that the whole length of Upper Trinity Street had been closed, denying normal access to her premises, for an event at The Custard Factory. She had not been informed or consulted. She is to contact promoter of Big Cat Promotions, Nick Morgan, for an explanation before making a complaint to the Council.
