Getgood Link: Birmingham Post – New live music venue for Digbeth given go-ahead

Birmingham Post – New live music venue for Digbeth given go-ahead – Birmingham Post report about the new live music venue on Oxford Street being given go-ahead, despite recent problems faced by the Spoted Dog and The Rainbow. An old industrial unit is to be turned into a live music venue made up of three rooms: two for live performances ‘from indie and progressive rock bands and also recorded music’ and the third for a bar. There will be an outdoor “themed courtyard” enclosed within the railway viaduct.

Apparently measures have been taken to minimise noise disturbances, but I do wonder how long it will survive before getting a Noise Abatement Order.

  1. The Baron says:

The measures include a huge ball of cotton wool to wrap Cllr Martin Mullaney up in and a ban on speakers that are any bigger than the ones in mobile ‘phones. Although they’re ruddy annoying too. I also heard that the entire venue’s going to be on wheels…so it can be trundled out to a remote field in a land far, far away then returned once the gig’s are over.
