Matthews of Birmingham – The Restaurant – Well, this is promising news. A lovely, shiny new restaurant is set to open soon at the old Rooty’s site in the Custard Factory:
Matthew’s restaurant can seat 40 guests in comfort and has a conference room that can seat a further 20. It offers breakfast, lunch, pre-theatre suppers and a Fine Dining evening menu to rival the best in the city.
Matthew’s stylish bar, separate from the restaurant, provides a relaxing place to have a drink….All in all Matthew’s provides the perfect place to spend your time whatever the occasion.
It’s also quite heartening to read that the Chef Matthew Gilbert is Birmingham born, bred and trained, his road to Chefdom having started at the Birmingham College of Food.
My, my, fine dining in Digbeth? Whatever next? A cashpoint? I shall of course, be down there troughing in the name of a Digbeth is Good restaurant review when it opens. Nom.

certainly an adventurous menu for the Custard factory.
cant wait!
