The Ripps – “Loco” Video on YouTube – Thanks to Pete Ashton for flagging up this video, which features the Custard Factory’s Urban Village of yesteryear, when it mostly sold records, films and mod-tastic trinkets. Also features Cute Mod Boy playing along the Digbeth streets and canals.

Some further info: That’s the Urban Village record shop i worked in about 2 years back (those are the very computers i toiled away on doing eBay stuff) now Steve Gerrards studio. ‘Cute Mod Boy’ is Frankies (U.V and Ripps manager) son who put in a sterling performance on the day. The ‘Box’ interior was built in the Vaad gallery by U.V allround handyman Dave. Rachel the drummer could regually be seen behind the counter when Urban Village was on Digbeth High Street. If you freeze the video bang on 11 seconds the Bettie Page ‘Whipping Girl’ picture top left of rear wall is now on display in my bedroom.
