I’m writing this from underneath my duvet on the sofa. Seems I’ve got some nasty, minging bug that’s had me out for the count for the last couple of days. The timing, quite frankly, sucks.
No Flatpack Festival for me.
- No seeing a specially transformed Floodgate Kino building.
- No insight into David O’Reilly’s beautifully warped mind with his Secret Cinema selection at the Custard Factory.
- No watching Paul Jones perform in front of Birmingham Town Hall in Privilege at Ikon Eastside.
- No ‘leisurely Sunday afternoon romp’ (complete with cheesy wotsits) with Picnic at The Edge, Cheapside.
- No Planning For Play at Eastside Projects, or Style Wars at South Birmingham College.
- Hell, I’ll even be lucky to make my own Flatpack Festival ‘Filum’ offering of Felicia’s Journey at The Victoria on Sunday.
No St Patrick’s Day fun for me.
- No taking up my invite to the Parade Launch party at the Paragon Hotel tonight, getting on down to the Birmingham Pipe and Drums.
- No Parade fun on Sunday, watching the bands and floats go on by and seeing the Digbeth Residents’ Association float offering.
- No enjoying The Destroyers on the St PatROCKS Bradford St stage.
- No family fun in the Custard Factory’s Emerald Village, seeing some Secret Wars graffiti battles.
So you kids have fun. Don’t go paying me a second thought, whilst you’re enjoying your must-see films, cultural highlights, brilliant live performances and pints of Guinness. Oh no. You go off and enjoy yourselves.

Awwwww…that sucks. I’m sending you healthy thoughts. Get a pint of the black stuff inside you and go see The Destroyers anyway. Guaranteed to cure all.
Get well soon!
(it’s probably down to all those cooked breakfasts last week)

I certainly will be giving you some second thoughts, try y’ best to make it but if not get well soon, (Digbeth longs for y’ beady eye)
