Echoes from the Edge is a Friction Arts project concentrating on the history and stories from Digbeth and Highgate:
Over the next three years or so we’ll be working on ‘Echoes From The Edge’. A collaboration with ‘Touchable Stories’ of Boston, USA to work with the communities surrounding our HQ on creating interactive living history exhibitions and a living archive for the histories and stories of the people of Digbeth, Deritend and Highgate.
We’ll be interviewing residents, workers and other deinizens of the areas to unearth their stroies, their concerns and to articulate these back to a wider audience through creating art exhibitions that are at once accessible and unintimidating and conceptually and technically professionally executed. The first exhibition will open next easter as a ‘taster’ of a larger exhibition in 2010/11 with a permanent community owned, living archive space as a long term ambition for the piece.
