Yesterday was the Digbeth Residents’ Association meeting and some interesting news came out of it.

The bad news is that this building site ‘could be left like it is for quite a while’ as the company responsible is officially bankrupt.

The good news is the bright spark suggestion that the residents get a community project going, using kids/residents/businesses to decorate the boards up at the moment which are constantly getting covered in graffiti.  Ideas include graffiti art and ideas of what residents would like to see when the building starts.  It could be long-term because the buildings have all been cleared and there are at present no specific plans for development.  A community artist could work with young people and the community, and there would need to be a partnership with site owners.  Someone called Chris is happy to be the project co-ordinator and will bring an update to the next meeting.
